The object of this blog is to provide education and information for new french bulldog breeders and owners. This is an attempt to educate before this breed is destroyed by irresponsible breeding and ownership.
I hope that you will be able to gain some information that may help you as a new, or perspective french bulldog owner. It is only my intention to provide information, not to tell you what to do.
It's up to you to do the right thing. French bulldogs are suffering from far too many genetic and preventable illnesses. Its up to us to breed it out. Responsible breeders are trying. It was not until recently that I found out that there were more measures that I could take to make this happen through testing. I searched for information when I first bought my frenchies. I thought I was doing everything right. It was correct information to the best of my knowledge. I used information by reading and using my breeder to answer questions about breeding. I have learned so much and what I was doing wasn't optimal breeding practice (good but not the best). I changed my practices because I want to be as responsible as possible. As you all know things only are seen through the prospective of what we know so far and are educated on from previous research, trial and error, and other means of collecting data. Well this is only the beginning. My hope is that this site will grow so big that the puppy mills and back yard breeders will have a more difficult time selling their puppies to unwitting buyers.
Maybe someday genetic disease for all dogs will be a thing of the past.
It is up to us to fix this growing problem. I hope that this will help you to love this breed as much as I do.
